Chocolate Is Good for You

From the book CHOCOLATE UNWRAPPED
by Rowan Jacobsen
ISBN 1-931229-31-7

Chocolate was surrounded by myths and taboos for centuries, and the guilt that so often rode with it, but the science has proved that it is actually a gift from the rainforest.
Our bodies instinctively respond to the food that is good for us. When they scream out cravings as intently as they do for chocolate, we had better listen to them and see what they are saying. What they seem to be saying, and what science is confirming, is that chocolate in moderation really can help us live longer, healthier and happier. This is a good thing, and this knowledge adds so much to the already scrumptious experience of eating chocolate, that it would be a crime not to let everyone in on the news.
So spread the word! Don’t let diet police with information 20 years out of date, or others whose job is to make you feel bad, stop you from having a great human experience that people have been indulging in for 3,000 years. Chocolate is good. Eat it as close to its natural state as possible, with just enough sugar mixed in to make it go down easily, and remind yourself that you are doing exactly what you should be.
